PROJETS SOLIDAIRES AU MALI

Access to energy in Mali: villages, schools and health centers benefit from innovative solutions for solar electrification in rural areas.

In Mali, the rate of access to electricity is 38% at the national level. The electrification of schools is a national priority in order to contribute to an improvement of education conditions. In the health sector, most health facilities do not have access to electricity.

The projects implemented by Lagazel’s partners with the collective solar lamp charging station aim to improve access to energy in villages, but also within collective infrastructures such as schools and health centers, in order to contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal #7 – Clean and affordable energy.

In the Timbuktu region, the SMARA association gives women who have just given birth in health centers access to a solar lamp, improving the family’s living conditions and encouraging regular care at the health center.

Several schools in the region of Mopti and Timbuktu have also benefited from solar lamp charging stations thanks to the commitment of the Jumelage La Fouillouse-Soufouroulaye and the Association Malienne pour la Survie au Sahel (AMSS).

But the collective charging station is also a factor of economic development when it is managed by a village entrepreneur as is the case in the project carried out by GIZ-ENDEV in the village of Foni, in the circle of Barouéli in Mali.
