In Africa, darkness is everywhere …

At night, during the new moon, or during the rainy season, entire regions in Africa can be plunged into an inky darkness, with no autonomous source of light. How to have light, work, eat dinner or even simply get around without a flashlight? And how to be sure that you will have enough battery power so you won’t suddenly find yourself in total darkness?

In developed countries, access to electricity is no longer a problem. However, the environment is a concern. Solar energy is the best way to save energy on a daily basis. Africans nevertheless have a number of doubts about the autonomy of products on offer and the charging necessary for guaranteeing adequate light for sufficient time periods. Certain Scandinavian countries, notably, get only weak sunlight, and for only a few hours, and may also be reticent about adopting solar lighting.

Lagazel applies a sustainable approach to the conception of its high autonomy solar lamps, which are designed to provide the whole family with the light required for nights that may last 12 hours or more, depending on latitude. Solar technology that is tried and tested

The extended autonomy of our solar lamps is based on two essential and complementary characteristics.

  • A Lithium iron phosphate battery (LiFePO4) of 3000 mAh and 3.2 Volts for the Kalo 3000, and 1500 mAh and 3.2 Volts for the Kalo 1500, is designed to provide excellent charging for an extended life: 2000 cycles.
  • The Polycrystalline solar panels used by Lagazel provide steady production of electricity throughout the whole year. They also offer excellent performance in high temperature conditions, which makes them the best panels for the production of electricity in Africa.

This association between batteries and solar panels enables us to offer solar lamps with a high level of autonomy.

The lamp Lagazel Kalo 3000 thus can provide, when fully charged:

  • 7 hours of light in turbo mode (130 lm)
  • 14 hours of light in normal mode (65 lm)
  • 44 hours of light in eco mode (15 lm)

Its little sister, the Kalo 1500, provides when fully charged:

  • 8 hours of light in turbo mode (70 lm)
  • 16 hours of light in normal mode (30 lm)
